psychotherapy with older adolescents, young adults, and adults of all ages
I'm Julia (she/her) and I'm a clinical social worker (LCSWA) committed to interdisciplinary work at intersections of mental health, social justice, and spirituality. I'm licensed in the state of North Carolina (#P015151), supervised by Laurea Glusman McAllister, MDiv, MSW, LCSW, CEDS, and currently working as an outpatient psychotherapist with TPC Counseling based in Raleigh, NC.
Although a native Texan, I’ve spent most of my adult life in the Southeast, completing my Bachelor's at the College of William & Mary, M.Div. with a concentration in Spiritual Care/Chaplaincy at Duke Divinity School, and M.S.W. with a concentration in Clinical Social Work at UNC-Chapel Hill. During my graduate training and beyond, I've had the opportunity to train in diverse settings, including private practice, community-based mental health services, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, crisis hotlines, homeless shelters, and faith communities.
In therapy, I strive to offer an affirming, nonjudgmental space to explore a client's stories with compassion, curiosity, creativity, and sometimes humor.
Outside of therapy, I sometimes work as a Teaching Assistant at Duke Divinity School and try to relax by reading, watching TV, baking, or spending time with my spouse and dog.
